1. Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the Spenvelopes mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User," "you," or "your") and Spenvelopes ("we," "us," or "our").
2. Description of Service
Spenvelopes is a personal budgeting application for iOS that:
- Connects to your bank accounts through Plaid
- Syncs your transaction data automatically
- Provides tools for envelope-based budgeting
- Sends push notifications about new transactions
- Stores your data locally and optionally in your iCloud account
The App is designed to help you organize and track your personal finances. It is not a financial advisory service and does not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Spenvelopes. By using the App, you represent and warrant that:
- You are at least 18 years of age
- You have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement
- You will use the App only for lawful purposes
- All information you provide is accurate and truthful
4. Subscription and Payment
4.1 Pricing
Spenvelopes is a subscription-based service priced at $8.00 USD per month. Pricing may vary by region and may be subject to change with advance notice.
4.2 Billing
Subscriptions are billed monthly through the Apple App Store. By subscribing, you authorize Apple to charge your payment method on file. Billing occurs at the start of each billing cycle.
4.3 Automatic Renewal
Your subscription will automatically renew each month unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your iPhone Settings under Subscriptions.
4.4 Free Trial
We may offer a free trial period for new users. If a trial is offered, you will be notified of the trial duration before subscribing. You will be charged at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before the trial ends.
4.5 Refund Policy
All payments are processed through the Apple App Store. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple according to their refund policy. We do not have direct control over App Store refunds but will work with Apple to resolve any billing issues.
To request a refund from Apple:
- Go to reportaproblem.apple.com
- Sign in with your Apple ID
- Find your Spenvelopes subscription charge
- Select "Request a refund" and follow the prompts
5. Account Security
5.1 Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your device
- Keeping your iOS device passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID secure
- Not sharing your device with unauthorized users
- Protecting your bank account credentials used with Plaid
5.2 Unauthorized Access
If you believe your device or account has been compromised, you should immediately:
- Disconnect your bank accounts in the App
- Contact your bank to report potential unauthorized access

6. Use of Third-Party Services
6.1 Plaid
The App uses Plaid Inc. to connect to your bank accounts. By using this feature, you agree to Plaid's End User Privacy Policy and End User Services Agreement.
We are not responsible for Plaid's services, availability, or any issues arising from Plaid's operations.
6.2 Apple Services
The App uses Apple services including iCloud and Apple Push Notification service. Your use of these services is governed by Apple's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
7. User Conduct
You agree NOT to:
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
- Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, or impair our services
- Violate any laws or regulations in your use of the App
- Share or resell access to the App
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 Our Rights
The App, including all content, features, and functionality, is owned by Spenvelopes and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. This includes:
- The Spenvelopes name and logo
- The App's source code and design
- All text, graphics, and other materials in the App
8.2 License to Use
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms. This license does not include any resale or commercial use of the App.
8.3 Your Data
You retain all rights to your personal financial data. We do not claim ownership of your budgeting information, transactions, or any content you create in the App.
9. Data and Privacy
Our collection and use of your information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our data practices.
Key points:
- Your financial data is stored locally on your device and optionally in your iCloud
- We do not have access to your transaction data or balances
- We store only device tokens for push notifications
10. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
10.1 No Financial Advice
Spenvelopes is a budgeting tool, not a financial advisor. We do not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Any budgeting decisions you make are your sole responsibility.
10.2 Accuracy of Information
While we strive to provide accurate transaction syncing and categorization, we cannot guarantee that all information is 100% accurate or up-to-date. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of your financial data.
10.3 Service Availability
We do not guarantee that the App will be available at all times or that it will be error-free. The App may be unavailable due to:
- Maintenance or updates
- Third-party service outages (Plaid, Apple, etc.)
- Internet connectivity issues
- Technical problems beyond our control
10.4 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:
- The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind
- We disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the subscription in the past 12 months
This includes but is not limited to damages for:
- Loss of data
- Financial losses resulting from budgeting decisions
- Errors in transaction syncing or categorization
- Service interruptions or downtime
11. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Spenvelopes and its affiliates from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Any unauthorized access to your account due to your failure to secure your device
12. Termination
12.1 Your Right to Terminate
You may stop using the App and cancel your subscription at any time by:
- Canceling your subscription in iPhone Settings
- Deleting the App from your device
Canceling your subscription will stop future charges but will not provide a refund for the current billing period.
12.2 Our Right to Terminate
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without notice, if:
- You violate these Terms
- We suspect fraudulent or illegal activity
- You engage in conduct that harms us or other users
- We discontinue the service
12.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination:
- Your subscription will be canceled (no refund unless required by law)
- Your access to the App will end
- Your data will remain on your device and iCloud (if sync was enabled)
- We will delete your device token from our servers
13. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. When we do:
- We'll update the "Last Updated" date
- We'll notify you in-app or via email for significant changes
- Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance
If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the App and cancel your subscription.
14. Dispute Resolution and Arbitration
14.1 Informal Resolution
If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first at support@spenvelopes.app and give us an opportunity to resolve it informally.
14.2 Binding Arbitration
If we cannot resolve the dispute informally, any claims will be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except where prohibited by law. Arbitration will be conducted by a neutral arbitrator in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
14.3 Class Action Waiver
You agree that any arbitration or proceeding will be limited to the dispute between you and Spenvelopes individually. To the full extent permitted by law, no arbitration or proceeding will be joined with another, and there is no right or authority for any dispute to be arbitrated on a class-action basis.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Spenvelopes is registered, without regard to conflict of law principles.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Spenvelopes regarding the use of the App and supersede all prior agreements.

19. Apple-Specific Terms
Because Spenvelopes is distributed through the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:
- These Terms are between you and Spenvelopes, not Apple
- Apple has no obligation to provide support for the App
- In the event of any failure to conform to warranties, you may notify Apple for a refund, and Apple has no other warranty obligation
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or third parties relating to the App
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and has the right to enforce them
By using Spenvelopes, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
